THE BLITZ 03.08.13
Golden State Warriors (35-27 2nd in the Pacific Division and 6th in the Western
Conference)
-The Warriors have split their last four games losing to the Celtics and Sixers on the road and
beating the Raptors and Kings at home.
-The Warriors are in the middle of their longest homestand of the season where the Warriors
have a great home court advantage, going 19-7 at Oracle Arena.
Warriors vs. Celtics (Warriors lose 94-86)
-The Warriors lost their third consecutive game on the road, falling to the Celtics, 94-86.
-The Warriors really struggled from the field only shooting 34% and only 20% from three point
range with an exhausted Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson going a combined 4-18 from three
point range.
Stats
Curry: 25 points, 6 assists, his first game after scoring 54 against the Knicks.
David Lee: 10 points, 19 rebounds, his first game back after being suspended for the Knicks
game.
Harrison Barnes: 16 points, 6 rebounds
Thompson: 15 points, 9 rebounds
Carl Landry: 11 points
Warriors vs. Sixers (Warriors lose 104-97)
-The Warriors lost their fourth consecutive game, losing to the struggling Sixers, 104-97.
-The Dubs were up as much as 16 points in the first half, but the Sixers went on a 11-0 run to
keep it close. The Warriors were also up by 11 in the third quarter, but once again, they could
not hold the lead.
-The Warriors allowed the Sixers to shoot over 50%, a team that only averages 92 points a
game and shoots just 44% from the field per game.
Stats
Thompson: 29 points, 7-12 from three point range (career high for three pointers made in a
game)
Curry: 30 points, 8 assists, it was his 4th straight game for Curry with 25 or more points in a
game.
Lee: 13 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists
Landry: 12 points, 5 rebounds
Warriors vs. Raptors (Warriors win 125-118)
-The Warriors snapped their four game losing streak by beating the Raptors, 125-118.
-It also was the first time Andrew Bogut played since a win against Phoenix two weeks ago.
-The Warriors trailed most of the game until the 4th quarter when Thompson scored 8 quick
points to start the quarter.
Stats
Curry: 26 points, 12 assists, 5 rebounds, shooting 50% from the field.
Lee: 29 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, shooting almost 60% from the field.
Thompson: 22 points, shooting 8-11 from the field and 4-5 from three point range, probably his
most efficient game of the season.
Jack: 16 points, 6 assists
Landry: 12 points
Barnes: 12 points
Bogut: 4 points, 8 rebounds
Warriors vs. Kings (Warriors win 87-83)
-The Warriors beat the Kings for the first time this season after losing twice in Sacramento,
beating them 87-83.
-It was an odd game considering both teams are among the top scoring teams in the NBA. But
neither team shot very well with the Warriors shooting 37% and the Kings managing to shoot
39%.
Stats
Thompson: 20 points, 5 rebounds, hit the game winning three pointer to give the Dubs a 85-83
lead with 7.5 seconds left in the game.
Lee: 17 points, 10 rebounds
Curry: 13 points, 8 assists
Barnes: 14 points
Jack: 12 points
Bogut and Ezeli: 5 points, 14 rebounds
-The Warriors look to extend their win streak to three when they meet James Harden, Jeremy
Lin and the Houston Rockets, a team that has dominated the Warriors in two games this
season.
San Francisco 49ers
-What are your thoughts on Darrelle Revis possibly coming to the 49ers?
-The 49ers released David Akers after a terrible season being one of the worst kickers in the
NFL.
-The Niners did not offer Dashon Goldson the franchise tag, making him an unrestricted free
agent. Do you see the Niners re-signing Goldson or do they look elsewhere for a safety either
in free agency or the draft?
-It also looks like Randy Moss will not be back with the Niners, meaning they will look to free
agency to fill his void, possibly a deep threat.
-The Niners are looking to put in a bid for Super Bowl 50 for their new stadium in Santa Clara.
-Do you see the Niners re-signing this offseason?
-What are the Niners biggest off-season needs?
Oakland Raiders
-What should the Raiders do with the quarterback position?
-What are the Raiders biggest needs this off-season?
-Safety Tyvon Branch and Guard Mike Brisel have restructured their contracts and it looks like
there are more to come with rumors of Wide Receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey, Defensive Tackle
Tommy Kelly and Quarterback Carson Palmer also restructuring their contracts.
-It is also rumored that Rolando McClain will be released, which seems long overdue since he
has done absolutely nothing for the Silver and Black.
-Do you see the Raiders re-signing this off-season?
